Fresh Crabs at the Barber’s

One of the strangest photos I’ve ever taken was this one in a Shanghai neighborhood early in the morning while heading out for breakfast one weekend.  Seems there is this guy who runs a barber shop right off the street where just in case you also happen to need some “fresh” shellfish, he’s got you covered with a couple of coolers full of crabs.  Hair cuts and crabs – it’s like peanut butter and jelly.  Click on the photo for a larger view.

  1. During soft-shell crab season, just about everyone in the street becomes a seafood vendor, South China and the Xiamen area are the same way. Great photo.
